Hello, (brief introduction) My name is Lauren, I'm 15 years old and live in Michigan... Like the last person, I was brought here from clicking around a bit, found links to the posts about abortion, which disappointed me. I thought that it was pretty idiotic that someone who was Pro-Life felt that they had to push their opinions on everyone, which is something that I am completely against.
I believe that people can be homophobic all they like, but I feel that the idiots are the ones that PUSH this upon others. Yes, the typical "OMGZ THEY BANNED HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE" post. You can hate someone's lifestyle, but all in all, it isn't affecting you. But if you are going to go and push your hatred upon others, now that IS affecting people. I think it's disgusting that we are heading back in a direction that we were once walking farther away from.
It's ridiculous that anyone would treat someone more highly/lowly based on their race/religion/sexual preference/etc. There is no such thing as reverse-discrimination, it's just more prejudice. Giving benefits for 'minority' groups for college? Now that is just ridiculous. For example, I know smart people who happen to be Hispanic, and I also know stupid people who happen to be Hispanic. How you get into college is through deeming yourself worthy, showing your high education/performance/participation/etc was worth it. What does that even have to do with your race? Absolutely nothing. I've heard the "we need more minorities in college" Well, then why don't more people who belong to these "minorities" get higher GPAs and pay attention in school? I'm not in any way saying that people that specifically belong to minorities do, but if a population of people is 10%... idk, Greek? Then there might not be a good chance of getting them in the first place! Giving "benefits" is kinda pointless, because that's completely unfair to the "white" population who don't. What would having more of a certain race accomplish? Diversity? Diversity isn't limited to the color of your skin, buddy. Perhaps there are other points on this "booster" to get into College that haven't been brought to my attention, but from what I've heard, I think it's a load of bullshit.
Haha, this is more of a rant, but to summarize things, I think that people who are discriminatory - then shove their beliefs in someone else's face are what make up an idiot. Someone that just can't look at both sides, and chooses to live their life in complete ignorance.
